What is VASER liposuction?

VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction technique uses powerful ultrasound waves to break up the fat tissue underneath the skin. It has become a popular technique because it is less invasive than traditional liposuction. [2]

VASER liposuction is an effective procedure for men and women who want to slim certain parts of their body and get rid of excess fatty tissue. Slimming down your body can lead to better proportions, a more aesthetic appearance, and higher confidence.

Hips

While some people like having bigger hips, some might be bothered by this appearance. VASER technique can create a more pronounced hourglass look by performing liposuction on the hip area.

Thighs

Liposuction can slim down your thigh area giving you a well-contoured appearance. It is also an effective way to create a thigh gap, which is considered a sign of leanness and a toned body.

Arms

Saggy arms are not a desirable look for anyone. Liposuction can help you get rid of the excess fat tissue on your arms and give you a more attractive and youthful look.

Procedure

How does the procedure work?

VASER liposuction is performed under general anaesthesia. During this procedure, a mixture of tumescent fluid or saline solution and an anaesthetic agent will be injected into your body. The excess fatty tissue is then broken down with the help of ultrasound waves created by the ultrasound probes inserted into the skin.

Your surgeon will create a small incision to insert a cannula into the targeted areas to drain out the broken-down fatty tissue and fluid mixture. As the final step, your surgeon will close the incisions and place a garment over the area.

Recovery

Liposuction recovery period

The recovery period after VASER liposuction can take approximately 3 to 6 months. After the surgery, your body might be bruised and swollen. However, these symptoms usually resolve over time.

Some fluid might ooze out of the targeted area for a few days after the surgery. You should carefully wipe those areas with sterilised pads.

After VASER liposuction surgery, you will need to wear a compression garment to support your recovery. Your surgeon might ask you to wear this garment for about 6 weeks.

Make sure that you are gentle with your body during the recovery period and avoid any excessive activities to help your body heal. You should also keep up with a healthy lifestyle to help with the recovery and prolong the results of your liposuction.

Frequently asked questions

As liposuction is a complex surgery, you should prepare for it as you would with any other surgery.

Your surgeon will ask you to stop taking any blood-thinning medications about 2 weeks before the surgery. It is necessary to quit smoking a few weeks before the surgery. You should also avoid drinking alcohol a few days before your surgery.

Our surgeons might also give you some additional instructions to improve your recovery. Make sure you follow them strictly for a safe and effective operation.

Since liposuction surgery is done under general anaesthesia, you won’t be feeling any pain during your surgery.

However, you might feel some discomfort and pain during the first few weeks of your recovery.

Usually, 3 to 4 litres of fat can be removed during liposuction. However, this amount can be increased to nearly 5 litres with mega liposuction surgery.

It is possible to lose 3 to 5 kilograms (approximately 6 to 11 pounds) with liposuction. Usually, surgeons do not recommend or perform liposuction that would lead to more weight loss.

The majority of men and women who undergo liposuction have issues with self-esteem and emotional distress. A very high percentage of patients treated for this procedure are ‘satisfied’ with the results achieved. The procedure is expected to enhance the quality of your life by improving your appearance and boosting your self-esteem and confidence while improving your overall health. [4] [5]

The length of liposuction surgery depends on the target area and the amount of fat that needs to be removed. The duration can vary between 30 minutes and 3 hours.

Even though liposculpture is considered a type of liposuction, there are considerable differences between these two procedures.

In liposculpture, fatty tissue is not only removed but also reshaped to achieve a more sculpted appearance. The fat removed from the patient’s body can be used to give volume to the desired areas of the body.

Unlike liposuction, liposculpture cannot be performed to achieve significant weight loss.
